Professor Akhtar Haseeb, former Vice Chancellor, Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Faizabad, has been appointed as Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University.
Professor Akhtar Haseeb, former Vice Chancellor, Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Faizabad, has been appointed as Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University. He has been given this charge in addition to its current duties. Professor Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University(AMU) has nominated professor Haseeb in his new role, according to a statement from the varsity.
A renowned academician possessing a vast administrative experience and a senior faculty member in the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, professor Haseeb has served as the Vice Chancellor of Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology (Faizabad, UP) and held key positions in various capacities including Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences; Chairman, Department of Plant Protection and Officiating Registrar; and Controller of Examination during different periods.
Professor Haseeb did PG Nematology from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi after passing MSc from in 1976, M.Phil in 1977, and PhD in 1983 from AMU. His area of specialisation covers broad areas in Botany and Plant Protection including Agricultural Plant Pathology and Nematology. His thrust area is diseases that include complex etiology of crops, integrated pest management and biological control. He was also a part of the team of scientists of Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Lucknow that earned a patent for yielding clone of Mentha arvensis.
