Five Courses of FTII get Approval by AICTE

Five courses offered by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) have been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education.

Five courses from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) have been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. This approval makes FTII, India’s premier film school the first one to receive such an accreditation.

A list of approved courses and institutions published on Saturday by AICTE, that contains courses in crafts, applied arts, and design included FTII under a new category. All the five one-year certificate post-graduate certificate courses were also a part of it, an official statement said.

Among the five FTII courses that have received AICTE approval, four are from television wing (direction, electronic cinematography, video editing, sound recording and TV engineering) and one is in film wing (feature film screenplay writing), it said.

“This is a historic moment for the FTII to have received AICTE approval for all five PG Certificate courses. This makes FTII the first film school in India to receive this recognition”, chairman of FTII Governing Council Brijendra Pal Singh said.

FTII’s television courses have recently gained fame winning several national and international honours.  Approval of these courses has added more value to these courses making them attractive as wing and film specialisation, he said.
