Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM)and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras will collaborate this year for research and academics.
Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM)and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras will collaborate this year for research and academics. This initiative will encourage to 10 percent of B.Tech students for admissions directly in PhD at IIT Madras. These meritorious students will be able to pursue their seventh and eighth semester at IIT Madras.
An MoU for research and academic collaboration was signed on February 8, 2019 at IIT Madras campus between Prof. Banshidhar Majhi, Director, IIITDM – Kancheepuram and Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, IIT Madras.
Talking about how important the collaboration was Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi said, “As the mentor Institution of IIITDM when the Institute was founded, IIT Madras has always been closely associated with IIITDM, Kanchipuram. There has been an active interaction between the faculty members of two institutions. This MOU now enables greater interaction between the students as well.”
Talking about advantages which students would get from this collaboration from this, Prof. Banshidhar Majhi further added, “The IIITDM students will have an opportunity to pursue their higher studies at IIT Madras and I am sure they will be motivated for an excellent career. In addition, the faculty of IIITDM will also have an opportunity to get research collaborations for sponsored projects and thesis supervision with the faculty of IIIT Madras.”
