A 27-year old alumnus of the prestigious Aligarh Muslim University, Junaid Ahmed who had done his engineering from Sharda University, got the all India rank of three in UPSC final examination 2018. The results for these exams were declared on the Friday evening.
Ahmed chose geography as his subject and took help from Zakat foundation, an NGO working constantly for the upliftment of underprivileged students. He hails from a middle-class family and his father is a lawyer while mother is a homemaker. He completed his school education from St Mary’s school in Bijnore district’s Nagina town.
Addressing a news channel, Ahmed said that the sense of achievement comes with a responsibility after witnessing failure several times. He has been preparing for the reputed exam since 2013. He further added that he would like to encourage more Muslim youth to appear for UPSC exams.
“Many Muslims don’t want to sit for these exams; they think the test would be biased against them. Most importantly, their socio-economic condition is not good. I would do my best to inspire more of them and keep them motivated to sit for the exams. The only thing that matters is hard work and focus”, he said.
