Artificial Intelligence(AI) will be introduced as an optional sixth subject in class 11th by CBSE.
Artificial Intelligence(AI) will be introduced as an optional sixth subject by Central Board of Secondary Education for class 11 students from 2019-20 onward. For class eight students, an ‘inspire module’ in AI will be introduced. The official circular by CBSE stated that AI ‘will be the power that will fuel future global digital economy’.
Subjects such as early childhood education, yoga, and artificial education will also be introduced as electives. Students choosing early childhood education will be taught teaching children of kindergarten or nursery by explaining them the fundamentals of child-centric education system.
Various skill subjects are also being introduced by the board from class 8 onwards. These subjects include introduction to financial marketing, automotive, and media. According to CBSE, these subjects have been opted by 6.5 lakh students across 6,543 schools.
These elective subjects will act as fifth subject for students since score of students is calculated from best of five marks. If a student scores less marks in five subjects, the marks of the sixth subject will be included.
