Schneider Electric, the pioneer of automation and effective management of energy will conduct a two-week long, Analysis and Protection of Power Systems (APPS) annual course for engineers or technicians in the arena of OEMs, utilities, and heavy electrical. The course keeps in mind the guidelines provided by National Training Policy (NTP) that emphasises the need of enhancing skills of technicians in the power sector.
The course is designed for engineers that wish to enhance their expertise in control automation, protection, and application for transmission and distribution in a power system with an emphasis on newly digitalised power systems. It involves a mix of practical sessions and theoretical classes conducted by leaders from Schneider Electric along with networking with peers from all over the country. It also includes ‘Bold Ideas’ presentation presented by the participants. The trainees this year were also addressed by Mr. Bakshi Ram Bhogal, G.G.M. & HOD (Elect.), Engineers India Limited who shared his learnings in the space with the participants.
Expressing his views about the significance of the easy access of training in the power sector, Mr. Bhogal confessed, “Energy is a key enabler for the country’s economic development. Other than economic growth critical human developmental parameters like poverty reduction, employment generation, etc. are considerably dependent on secure energy supply. With the growth of digitisation in the power sector, the jobs in the sector are getting highly specialised and there is a learning gap that needs to be addressed urgently.”
Speaking about the training programme, Mr. Ponniah Sankarakumar, Director, Marketing and Strategy, Energy Business, Schneider Electric India Pvt Ltd, said, “Technologies are transforming our lives and impacting infrastructure. The future demands smarter and sustainable solutions, and a new generation of talent to deliver them. With this course we aim to provide life like situations on real equipment to engineers and technical experts, to support them in scaling up their learning.”
A NASSCOM report states that approximately 40% of the work force in India require re-skilling to upgrade themselves with latest trends in industry such as automation and evolving skill requirements in various industries.
